State Animal: Nilgai (Blue Bull)

State Symbols of Delhi

Nilgai is the largest antelope found in India and is an important part of Delhi's natural heritage. It can often be seen in protected forest areas and wildlife habitats around the city. Nilgais have a strong build, long legs, and a bluish-grey coat in males, which gives them their name. They play an important role in maintaining ecological balance by feeding on grasses and shrubs. Protecting the Nilgai helps conserve biodiversity and encourages people to value and protect wildlife in and around Delhi.
