Chandraprakash Dwivedi

Chandraprakash Dwivedi, originally from Uttarakhand, is a renowned Indian film director, screenwriter, and actor best known for his historical and mythological works. He gained national recognition as the writer, director, and lead actor of the epic television series Chanakya (1991), which showcased his deep knowledge of Indian history and culture. A trained medical doctor who later turned to the arts, Dwivedi has directed acclaimed films such as Pinjar (2003), based on Amrita Pritam’s novel, and Samrat Prithviraj (2022), a historical drama highlighting the life of the legendary king. He has also contributed significantly to Indian television and theatre, earning respect for his research-based storytelling and his ability to bring historical narratives alive for modern audiences.
