Ilaiyaraaja (born 1943)
Ilaiyaraaja is a legendary Indian music composer, conductor, and songwriter, widely regarded as one of the greatest and most innovative musicians in Indian cinema. Hailing from Pannaipuram in Tamil Nadu, he revolutionized film music with his unique ability to blend Indian classical, folk, and Western classical music, creating a sound that was both modern and deeply rooted in tradition.

He made his debut as a film composer in 1976 with the Tamil film Annakili, and since then, he has composed music for over 1,000 films in multiple languages including Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi. Ilaiyaraaja is celebrated for his symphonic orchestration and was the first Asian composer to score a full symphony with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in London.
