Keya Hatkar, a remarkable teenager from Maharashtra, has emerged as a powerful voice for disability rights and inclusion in India. Living with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA), Keya has defied the challenges of her condition to become a published author and awareness advocate at a very young age. Her debut book, “Dancing on My Wheels”, offers a candid and inspiring glimpse into her life with a disability, highlighting both the struggles and the strength that define her journey.
At just 14 years old, Keya has already become a symbol of resilience, using literature and public speaking to break down societal stigma around disabilities. Her second book, “I’m Possible”, reinforces the message that with determination and support, no dream is out of reach. For her inspiring work and advocacy, she was honored with the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar, India’s highest civilian award for children.
