Late Gurdial Singh

Gurdial Singh (1933–2016) was a celebrated Punjabi novelist and short story writer known for his profound portrayal of rural Punjab and the struggles of its people. His literary works delve deeply into social issues such as poverty, caste discrimination, and the hardships of the farming community.

Through his realistic and empathetic storytelling, Gurdial Singh gave voice to the marginalized and brought attention to the challenges faced by Punjab’s villages. His novels like “Marhi Da Deeva” (The Last Flicker) and “Anhe Ghore Da Daan” (Alms for the Blind Horse) are considered classics of Punjabi literature.
