Shobha Devi

UNSUNG HEROES

Shobha Devi is an inspiring grassroots educator from a remote village in Gaya district, Bihar, who has quietly transformed the lives of girls through the power of education. Coming from a modest background herself, Shobha experienced the barriers that prevent rural girls especially from marginalized communities from accessing education.

Over time, Shobha Devi established a free informal learning center for girls, offering basic literacy, numeracy, and life skills. Her work goes beyond teaching; she regularly visits families to convince parents to send their daughters to school and fights against child marriage and gender-based discrimination. Shobha Devi is a true unsung hero, whose silent dedication is shaping a more equal and empowered Bihar one girl at a time.
