Sushant Sahu, a social worker and grassroots change-maker from Bhubaneswar, is known for single-handedly transforming the remote hamlet of Kandalei, located in the Khurda district of Odisha. What began as a personal mission to uplift the village, which lacked basic facilities like electricity, clean water, and education, turned into a model for community-led development.
Despite not being a government official or politician, Sushant used personal funds, local support, and relentless advocacy to bring about change. He facilitated the installation of solar lights, helped construct a primary school, improved sanitation, and connected villagers to government welfare schemes. His work focused especially on tribal and underprivileged communities, ensuring that no one was left behind.
