Withdrawal of Clean Energy Policy

In October 2025, Assam's government rescinded its flagship clean energy policy introduced earlier in the year. This move has raised concerns among investors and industry stakeholders, as it threatens renewable energy investments worth millions of dollars. The policy aimed to boost clean energy adoption through financial incentives and relaxed bank guarantee requirements. The reversal has created uncertainty in the renewable energy sector.

The foundation stone ceremony is planned for November 10, with hopes to invite Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the inauguration.

GST Reforms Benefiting Assam's Economy

The Assam government has implemented reductions in Goods and Services Tax (GST) rates for various products, including tea, juices, pickles, and sauces. These reforms aim to ease the cost burden on cultivators and boost the state's tea exports. Additionally, the reduction in GST rates for items like juices, pickles, and sauces is expected to bring savings for consumers and increase demand for local agricultural products.
