The Konark Dance Festival, held annually in December at the open-air auditorium against the majestic backdrop of the Sun Temple in Konark, Odisha, is one of India’s longest-running classical dance festivals. Spanning five consecutive days, the festival brings together renowned artistes from across the country who perform classical dance forms such as Odissi, Bharatanatyam, Kathak, Kuchipudi, Manipuri, and Mohiniattam, accompanied by live traditional music. Organized by the Odisha Tourism Department since 1986, the event transforms Konark into a cultural hub where thousands of spectators witness marathon evening sessions of performances, celebrating India’s rich heritage of dance, rhythm, and devotion.
