Largest Bharatanatyam Dance

The largest Bharatanatyam dance from Kerala was performed on 29 December 2024 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kochi, where a record 11,600 dancers came together under the leadership of renowned actress and dancer Divya Unni to set a new Guinness World Record. Titled Kailasam – A Tribute to Divinity, the eight-minute choreography was presented in a grand formation with dancers dressed in silk blue sarees, moving in unison to a specially composed song with lyrics by Kaithapram Damodaran Namboothiri and music by Anoop Sankar. The event, inaugurated by Kerala’s Cultural Affairs Minister Saji Cheriyan, brought together performers ranging from children to senior artists, including more than 550 dance teachers, making it a cultural milestone that celebrated the heritage of Bharatanatyam while surpassing the previous world record of 10,176 dancers.
