The Anthurium Festival, held annually at Reiek Tlang near Aizawl, is Mizoram’s largest indigenous cultural gathering that blends tourism promotion with traditional heritage, attracting thousands of visitors from across India and abroad. First celebrated in 2006 and organized by the Mizoram Tourism Department along with local communities, the festival showcases a vibrant mix of Cheraw (bamboo dance), folk music, traditional Mizo games, handloom and handicraft exhibitions, and culinary fairs, all set against the scenic backdrop of Reiek Hills. Drawing over 10,000 participants and tourists each year, the festival has become a hallmark of Mizo cultural identity, celebrating both the state’s indigenous traditions and the beauty of the exotic Anthurium flower that blooms abundantly in Mizoram.
