Largest synchronized folk dance in Sikkim

On May 16, 2025, Sikkim created a cultural milestone during its 50th Statehood Day celebrations at Paljor Stadium, Gangtok, where a mass synchronized folk dance performance was organized as part of the festivities. In this event, around 1,100 dancers trained by the Tapashree Dance Academy came together to perform the traditional Chutkey (Chutke) dance, making it the largest synchronized folk dance ever staged in the state and widely reported as a world-record attempt. The performance, which was witnessed by thousands of spectators, lasted for about 30 minutes as dancers moved in perfect harmony to celebrate Sikkim’s rich heritage and cultural pride.
