The Longest Odissi Vocal Recital took place in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, on 12–13 January 2019, where a collective of classical vocalists and students came together to present Odissi music in its purest form. The event, organized by leading cultural bodies and supported by the Odisha Sangeet Natak Akademi, featured a 24-hour nonstop performance, with artistes singing in rotation to ensure the continuity of the recital. Dedicated largely to devotional themes and traditional ragas associated with Lord Jagannath, the marathon not only set a record for the longest Odissi vocal recital but also reaffirmed Odisha’s deep-rooted legacy of classical music and spiritual artistry.
