The longest singing performance in the Mizo language took place during the Chapchar Kut celebrations in Aizawl in March 2010, when community choirs and cultural troupes organized marathon sessions of Lengkhawm Zai (Mizo hymns) and folk songs alongside the record-breaking Cheraw dance. The singers performed continuously in Mizo for several hours on stage, accompanied by traditional instruments like the khuang (drum) and bawngbung (gong), with an audience of more than 10,000 people in attendance. Though not formally certified as a Guinness World Record, this remains the most significant long-duration singing event in the Mizo language, symbolizing the people’s deep cultural pride and collective celebration of their heritage.
