The Mandasor Pillar Inscriptions of Yashodharman, dating back to the early 6th century CE (around 532 CE), stand as one of Madhya Pradesh’s most important literary and epigraphical records. Carved in elegant Sanskrit verse, the inscriptions celebrate King Yashodharman of Malwa and his victories over the Huns, particularly Mihirakula, reflecting both political power and literary artistry of the Gupta period. Located at Sondani near Mandsaur, the inscriptions were rediscovered in the modern era and have since become a major attraction for historians, epigraphists, and tourists. When the site was formally unveiled for public viewing after conservation, it drew an audience of over 2,000 visitors, including scholars, students, and local residents, underscoring its cultural and historical significance as a bridge between literature and heritage.
