The Mandsaur Stone Inscription of Yashodharman-Vishnuvardhana, dated to around 532 CE, is a celebrated Sanskrit inscription engraved in the Gupta script at Mandsaur, Madhya Pradesh. Composed entirely in verse, it praises King Yashodharman and his ally Vishnuvardhana for their military successes, poeticized in a refined style that reflects the literary brilliance of the Gupta period. Remarkably, the inscription even bears the signature of the engraver, making it a rare blend of history, literature, and artistry. When the inscription site was showcased to the public after conservation, the event drew nearly 1,200 visitors, including historians, epigraphists, and local residents, who gathered to witness this timeless testament of Madhya Pradesh’s cultural and literary legacy.
