.Shravani Mela – Deoghar

The Shravani Mela in Deoghar, Jharkhand, is a month-long religious and cultural festival held annually during the Hindu month of Shravan (July–August) in honor of Lord Shiva. Millions of devotees, often referred to as Kanwariyas, undertake a pilgrimage to the Baidhyanath Jyotirlinga temple, carrying sacred water from the Ganges to offer to the deity. Alongside its religious significance, the festival features vibrant cultural expressions, including traditional music, folk dances, and local crafts, turning the town into a lively hub of communal celebration. The event draws over 40 lakh participants each year, reflecting both its spiritual importance and its role in preserving Jharkhand’s rich cultural traditions.
