World’s Longest Mithila Painting

The world's longest Mithila painting was created on December 1, 2024, at the Mithila Chitrakala Sansthan in Madhubani, Bihar. This monumental artwork spanned approximately 1,900 feet in length and was completed in a single day. A total of 910 artists participated, collaboratively painting 182 themes that celebrated the rich cultural heritage of the Mithila region. The event was organized by the Department of Art, Culture, and Youth, Government of Bihar, and aimed to showcase the traditional art form on a global stage. The painting depicted various aspects of Mithila culture, including mythological narratives, traditional rituals, and vibrant cultural scenes. The collaborative effort brought together artists from across the state, highlighting the community's dedication to preserving and promoting their artistic traditions. This event not only set a new record but also underscored the importance of collective effort in celebrating and sustaining cultural heritage.
