The world's longest river bridge

The world's longest river bridge

Mahatma Gandhi Setu, spanning 5.575 km across the Ganga River, is one of the longest river bridges in the world. It connects Hajipur on the north to Patna on the south, serving as a vital link in Bihar’s road network. Patna, located on the southern bank of the Ganga, is uniquely surrounded by three rivers, Ganga, Sone, and Punpun, with the Gandak River flowing just north of the city. The bridge significantly boosts connectivity and economic activity in the region.

Patna is a historic city and a major pilgrimage center for Sikhs, Buddhists, and Jains. It is home to Takhat Sri Patna Sahib, one of the five sacred Sikh Takhats. Nearby lie renowned spiritual and historical sites like Vaishali, Rajgir, Nalanda, Bodh Gaya, and Pawapuri. This makes Patna an ideal gateway for religious and cultural tourism in eastern India.
