The longest span cantilever bridge in India

Jadukata Bridge, located in Ranikor in the West Khasi Hills district of Meghalaya, is the longest span cantilever bridge in India. It stretches across the Jadukata River with a central span of 140 meters. Situated about 130 km from Shillong, the state capital, the bridge lies close to the Indo-Bangladesh border. It serves as a crucial link on the Mawsynram-Balat-Maheshkhola Road, enhancing connectivity in this border region.

Constructed by Gammon India Limited, Mumbai, the bridge was built at a cost of around ₹10 crore. Jadukata Bridge has been recognized for its engineering excellence, winning the ICI MC Bauchemie Award for Outstanding Concrete Structures. It stands as a significant achievement in infrastructure development in Meghalaya. The bridge plays an important role in promoting trade and transportation in the northeastern frontier.
