Jadukata Bridge, located in Ranikor in the West Khasi Hills district of Meghalaya, is the longest span cantilever bridge in India. It stretches across the Jadukata River with a central span of 140 meters. Situated about 130 km from Shillong, the state capital, the bridge lies close to the Indo-Bangladesh border. It serves as a crucial link on the Mawsynram-Balat-Maheshkhola Road, enhancing connectivity in this border region.
Constructed by Gammon India Limited, Mumbai, the bridge was built at a cost of around ₹10 crore. Jadukata Bridge has been recognized for its engineering excellence, winning the ICI MC Bauchemie Award for Outstanding Concrete Structures. It stands as a significant achievement in infrastructure development in Meghalaya. The bridge plays an important role in promoting trade and transportation in the northeastern frontier.
