Launched on November 14, 1980, it was created and originally edited by Anant Pai, popularly known as "Uncle Pai." Tinkle enjoys a wide readership, reaching approximately 12 lakh (1.2 million) readers each month. The magazine is especially popular among children aged 8 to 14.

Tinkle offers a 72-page package of entertaining and educational content, including comic stories, cartoon features, science facts, general knowledge, and do-it-yourself activities.
