The easternmost point of India

The easternmost point of India

Kibithu is the easternmost inhabited point of India, located in Arunachal Pradesh’s Lohit District at an altitude of 11,000 feet. This scenic village lies on the right bank of the Lohit River, which enters India from China's Tibet region. Surrounded by whispering pine forests, blooming wild berries, and cascading waterfalls, Kibithu is a serene destination nestled amidst towering blue hills.

Historically significant, Kibithu witnessed intense battles during the 1962 India-China war. In recent years, however, it has evolved as a symbol of peace, becoming a key point in Indo-China border diplomacy after Nathu La. Its strategic yet scenic location is gradually attracting visitors, offering limited but peaceful access toward the border region.
