The northernmost point of India is disputed. Currently, the Siachen Glacier in Jammu & Kashmir is the northernmost area under Indian control. India claims the entire state of Jammu and Kashmir based on the Instrument of Accession signed in 1947, which includes regions such as Gilgit, Baltistan, and Kanjut.
However, Gilgit, Baltistan, and Kanjut are under Pakistan's control at present. If the entire state of Jammu and Kashmir is considered, the northernmost point would be Dafdar in the Taghdumbash Pamir region near Beyik Pass in Kanjut. This area represents India's claimed northern extremity beyond the current controlled boundary.
