Bogibeel Bridge, built over the Brahmaputra River in Assam, is the longest railway bridge in India with a total length of 4.9 kilometers. It is a combined road and rail bridge that connects the districts of Dibrugarh and Dhemaji in the northeastern region. This strategic bridge enhances connectivity in Assam and the entire Northeast. It plays a vital role in both civilian transport and military logistics.
Commissioned in December 2018, the bridge was constructed by Hindustan Construction Company and Indian Railways. Its double-deck structure features a three-lane road on the top and a double-line railway track below. The bridge significantly reduces travel time between Assam and Arunachal Pradesh. It stands as a major feat in India's infrastructure and national security development.
