Indian Army Day is celebrated on January 15th to honor the day when Lieutenant General K.M. Cariappa became the first Indian Commander-in-Chief in 1949. It was initiated to recognize the courage and sacrifices of the Indian Army in safeguarding the nation.

In India, Indian Army Day is celebrated with parades, military displays, and ceremonies across army bases and public spaces. The President of India also pays tribute to fallen soldiers, and events highlight the army’s role in protecting the nation.
