Night of Divine Devotion
Maha Shivratri is observed on the 14th night of the dark fortnight in the Hindu month of Phalguna (usually February or March). It marks the cosmic night when Lord Shiva is believed to have performed the Tandava dance and is celebrated with fasting, night-long vigils, and prayers.
Shiva’s Sacred Night
On Maha Shivratri, devotees fast and stay awake all night, offering milk, fruits, and bilva leaves to Shiva Lingams. Temples are beautifully decorated, and special prayers, chants, and meditations are performed to seek Lord Shiva’s blessings for strength and spiritual growth.
