The smallest known copy of the Guru Granth Sahib measuring 29.61 x 29.59 x 23.36 mm and containing 1,430 pages was recorded on 1 October 2006 in the possession of Mehmood Imran although miniature in form the holy scripture retains the exact number of pages as a regular version with only four or five such copies believed to exist commissioned during the golden reign of Maharaja Ranjit Singh between 1801 and 1839 one of which is preserved in the museum attached to the Golden Temple.
Imran who owns this rare manuscript also maintains an expansive collection of miniature religious texts ranging from 1.5 cm to 4 cm representing faiths across the world including the Torah the Zen Avesta the Bible and the Koran with over 150 versions of the Koran and around 50 editions of the Bible dating as far back as the seventeenth century most housed in ornate metal lockets his only regret is the absence of a miniature Bhagavad Gita which he believes would complete his unparalleled collection.
