Amitabh Bachchan

Uttar Pradesh’s Hall Of Fame

Amitabh Bachchan, born on October 11, 1942, in Allahabad (now Prayagraj), Uttar Pradesh, is one of the most iconic and influential actors in the history of Indian cinema. Often referred to as the "Shahenshah of Bollywood" or "Big B", he rose to fame in the 1970s with a string of hit films portraying the "angry young man" persona in movies like Zanjeer, Deewaar, and Sholay.

With a career spanning over five decades, Amitabh Bachchan has acted in more than 200 films across various genres, winning numerous awards including four National Film Awards for Best Actor, multiple Filmfare Awards, and international honors. He is also a recipient of Padma Shri (1984), Padma Bhushan (2001), and Padma Vibhushan (2015) for his contributions to the arts.

Beyond acting, Bachchan is known for his deep baritone voice, which has made him a sought-after narrator and television host, especially on Kaun Banega Crorepati (India’s version of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?). A cultural icon, philanthropist, and inspiration to generations, Amitabh Bachchan remains a proud son of Uttar Pradesh and a global ambassador of Indian cinema.
