UNSUNG HEROES

Nauroti Devi is a remarkable social activist and politician from Harmada village in Ajmer district, Rajasthan. Born into a marginalized Dalit family, she had no formal education and worked as a stone cutter on road construction sites.

In the early 1980s, Nauroti joined Barefoot College in Tilonia, where she underwent literacy training and learned computer skills. Her newfound knowledge empowered her to train other women in her community, promoting digital literacy and women's rights. Nauroti Devi's leadership and dedication to social justice have made her a symbol of empowerment for marginalized communities in Rajasthan. Her story exemplifies the transformative power of education and activism in challenging entrenched social hierarchies.
