Paul Lyngdoh

Meghalaya’s Hall Of Fame

Paul Lyngdoh (born 22 September 1972) is a prominent politician, writer, and poet from Meghalaya. He began his public life as President of the Khasi Students’ Union and later entered politics, becoming a senior leader of the United Democratic Party. In March 2023, he was elected as MLA from West Shillong and appointed Cabinet Minister, handling Social Welfare, Tourism, Arts & Culture, and Textiles. As a writer, his short stories and poems, including Shithiar Ki Khana Lyngkot and Floodgate/Ka Kyrdop, are widely read, with some included in school curricula. He is also a celebrated songwriter with popular Khasi songs like “Ri Lum” and “Mait Shaphrang.”
