Prashant Tamang – Indian Idol Winner
Prashant Tamang, born on January 4, 1983, in Darjeeling, is a singer and actor who rose to national fame after winning Indian Idol Season 3 in 2007. Of Nepali heritage and closely associated with Sikkim and the Gorkha community, Prashant was serving as a constable in the Kolkata Police when he auditioned for the show. His soulful voice, humble personality, and emotional connection with the audience won hearts across the nation, especially in Northeast India and among Nepali-speaking communities worldwide.

His victory in Indian Idol wasn’t just a personal achievement but a moment of pride for the entire Gorkha community, who rallied behind him with overwhelming support. After his win, Prashant released music albums and transitioned into acting, becoming a well-known face in the Nepali film industry.
