Sandhya Dhar

UNSUNG HEROES

Sandhya Dhar from Jammu and Kashmir, Sandhya Dhar was born with cerebral palsy and has used a wheelchair throughout her life. Despite the challenges, she pursued her education with determination, earning degrees in Information Technology, Public Administration, and Social Work. Rather than letting her disability define her, she turned it into a powerful force for change.

In 2015, she founded the Jammu Institute of General Education and Rehabilitation (JIGER) a center that provides inclusive education, therapy, and skill development for children with disabilities. The institute has supported over 400 children, many of whom come from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
