The Haryana cabinet approved the Haryana Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Ordinance, 2025, which decriminalises 164 minor provisions across 42 state laws-turning many criminal penalties into civil or administrative ones. Other connected reforms include changes in the Panchayati Raj quorum rules, amendments under the HIV/AIDS law, reserving land in lease rules for persons with disabilities, etc.
The Energy Minister, Anil Vij, launched a statewide campaign to improve power supply infrastructure, including trimming trees that interfere with electric lines, replacing overloaded transformers/conductors. The Haryana cabinet approved a 25% increase in the DCRG (Death-cum-Retirement Gratuity) limit for state government employees and judicial officers-from ₹20 lakh to ₹25 lakh-effective from 1 January 2025.
In its Budget for 2025-26, presented by CM Nayab Singh Saini, the Haryana government announced several new/expanded initiatives, such as: • A “Department of Future” to be established, along with an AI mission in collaboration with the World Bank; • A “Fund of Funds” (≈ ₹2,000 crore) to support startups; • Interest-free loans (up to ₹1 lakh) for women dairy farmers; • A new horticulture policy; • Measures to curb the “dunkey route migration” (i.e. certain irregular migration patterns).
