Karnataka has approved a comprehensive health action plan (₹139 crore) to reduce maternal mortality. Key steps include upgrading health facilities, increasing obstetric ICUs, setting up a digital childbirth monitoring system, funding emergency care in private hospitals under AB-Ark, and staffing reforms in taluk hospitals & community health centres.
Under the Atal Bhujal Yojana (a central-World Bank project), Karnataka saw an average groundwater rise of ~13 metres in 14 pilot districts. The project involves monitoring, constructing recharge structures, soil moisture monitoring, etc. The government is planning to extend it to more districts.
The Karnataka High Court directed the Karnataka Examinations Authority to amend admission rules for professional courses, so that OCI (Overseas Citizen of India) card-holders registered before March 4, 2021 are treated as Indian citizens (in admission eligibility), following an earlier Supreme Court ruling
The state government has initiated a survey specifically focused on transgender people to map their social and educational status. Purpose: to better identify the community, design grant/employment/self-employment schemes, and address discrimination.
The Karnataka cabinet approved a new State Skill Development Policy (2025-32), with an outlay of ~₹4,432 crore. The policy aims to make Karnataka a “skilled talent hub,” using digital technologies, AI, apprenticeships, improved infrastructure (ITIs, GTTCs), global certs, and focus on marginalized groups (women, persons with disabilities, informal workforce).
