Meera Nayak

UNSUNG HEROES

Meera Nayak is a grassroots health worker and women’s rights advocate from Mysore, Karnataka, who has spent over two decades working to improve maternal and reproductive health in underserved and rural communities. With limited resources but deep determination, she has provided critical health education and care to women who often lack access to basic medical services.

Her work includes organizing health camps, promoting safe childbirth practices, distributing sanitary products, and raising awareness about nutrition and hygiene. Meera also trains local women to become peer educators, creating a sustainable model of community-driven health support. Often working quietly in the background, Meera Nayak has made a significant impact on the lives of thousands of women and girls helping reduce maternal mortality, improve health outcomes, and empower women to take control of their well-being. She stands as a powerful yet unsung hero in Karnataka’s journey toward gender equity and better rural healthcare.
